Blues win the battle of Bassett

Sunday 7th October 2018

Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Under 18 Blue and Yellow sides met in a North Wilts League Division One clash, with the Bassett derby having added spice given both sides entered the game unbeaten.

And it would be the Blues who came out on top, triumphing 3-0 in what was designated as an away game for them.

Liam Bint, Bailey Gallagher and Harrison Gough found the net to secure their victory.

Three other Bassett youth teams were victorious this weekend.

The Under 14 Blues bounced back from their first defeat of the campaign last weekend by defeating Malmesbury Youth Warriors 4-1. Charlie Hudson led the way with a brace, while Roan Castle and Joseph Rouse netted their first goals of the season.

Recording their second win in a row were the Under 16 Blues, who saw off Highworth Town Juniors T 7-1, while the Under 15 Yellows thrashed Malmesbury Youth Falcons 11-0.

Picking up a valuable point on their travels were the Under 13 Blues, who held Bradford Town Youth Mustangs to a 2-2 draw.

Elsewhere, Bassett's teams suffered defeat.

Thomas Nicholas gave the Under 12 Blue side the lead away at Robins White, but three unanswered goals delivered the points for the hosts.

Also losing narrowly were the Under 13 Yellows, who fell by the odd goal in three at home against Lydiard Millicent Juniors Green.

Meanwhile, there were heavy losses for the Under 14 Yellows (2-7 away against Croft Junior Blue), Under 13 Whites (1-9 away at Stratton Juniors Tigers with Poppy Wannell netting a consolation) and the Under 12 Yellows (1-10 against Lydiard Youth).

The Under 15 Blue team's fixture away against FC Chippenham Youth White was abandoned with the scored tied at 2-2.
