Bassett set for Vase Bash

Royal Wootton Bassett Town are in national cup action again this weekend as they entertain Bashley in the Buildbase FA Vase second qualifying round.
While Bassett received a walkover in the first qualifying round, Bashley were in impressive form, putting six goals without reply past Wessex League Premier Division rivals AFC Portchester.
The Hampshire-side have had a great start in the league too, and currently sit second with three wins, a draw and just the one defeat from their opening five games.
Saturday's encounter at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground (3pm kick off) is therefore set to be a tough one, so please come out and show your support for Sam Collier and his team as they seek to add to the club's extra preliminary round win in the FA Cup!
Last season Bassett matched their best ever FA Vase run, reaching the second round after home victories over Fairford Town, Codicote and Ampthill Town.
Bassett were eliminated by Wessex League opponents in the form of Horndean, but only after a brave battle with nine men that saw them lose by the odd goal in five.
Since re-entering the Vase in 2016, Bashley have failed to advance beyond the first round. However, they previously made the semi-finals in the competition back in 1987-88 and also reached the last eight a season later.
Their most famous cup run came in the FA Cup in 1994-95 when they advanced to the second round, losing narrowly at home 1-0 against Swansea City.
