Bassett to the four

Sunday 8th April 2018

A combination of the Holland Tour and school holidays meant that the youth section fixture iist was again shortened this weekend. But there were positive results in the games that took place, with four being the common theme.

The Under 15 Yellows were involved in an important first versus third clash in North Wilts League Division Three. And Bassett took a great stride towards securing a top two finish at the end of the season courtesy of a 4-1 victory.

Top scorer Callum Flay led the way with a brace while Kieren Kirby and Tom Warren were also on target.

Bassett now have a five point lead over second place Stratton Youth, with Swindon Supermarine J, who hold five games in hand, eight points adrift.

Bassett meet Ashton Keynes again next week, and a win should more or less be enough to seal runners-up spot.

Also triumphant this weekend were the Under 16 Blues, who convincingly beat Tetbury Town 4-1.

The Under 12 Whites were the third side to score four, though they were only able to claim a share of the spoils in an eight-goal thriller away against Wroughton Youth Leopards.

Meanwhile, the Under 18 Yellows were awarded the points for their postponed game against Blunsdon.
