Off the mark!

A brilliant performance from Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 13 Yellow saw them record their first points of the season in an entertaining 4-4 draw against Division Three high-flyers Oaksey.

Despite losing their opening twelve games, Bassett had showed immense character and desire. And their determination shone through in the return fixture with Oaksey, who had previously beaten them 4-2.

Bassett's opponents had lost just two of their nine league games headed into the match and, though sitting fifth, were still firmly in the title race.

That though wasn't enough to prevent Bassett from ensuring they shared the spoils, with strikes from Ellie Gulliver, Klaudia Knapczyk and Thomas Morrisey and an own goal earning the draw.

Elsewhere, there was a reduced fixture lists due to a number of postponements. However, four other teams were able to beat the weather.

The Under 14 Blues reclaimed top spot in Division One with a 15-1 thrashing of Swindon Rangers. Marcel Lewis was their leading protagonist, scoring four times, while James Johnson and Otis Lewis recorded hat-tricks. Completing the rout were Jack Osbaldeston (2), Lewis-James Bexon-Shaw, Howard Evans and Rory Ryan.

There was an agonising loss for the Under 12 Yellows as they saw their five-game winning streak brought to an end by Cirencester Town Gladiators, who prevailed 1-0.

The Jekyll and Hyde nature of the Under 16 Blue team's campaign continued. After last week's big win, they were beaten 5-0 by Castle Combe Colts White.

There was a heavy defeat for the Under 14 Yellows, who fell 11-0 against Division Two frontrunners Ferndale Rodbourne YCFC.
