Sunday 12th November 2017

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 18 Yellow booked their place in the North Wilts League Cup quarter finals in stunning fashion, defeating Division One AFC Newbury Colts 9-2 on an afternoon to remember.

Bassett, who will battle fellow Division Two outfit Tetbury Town for a place in the last four, romped to victory against Newbury. Propelled by hat tricks from Callum Bridges and Luke Saunders, they also sourced goals from Aaron Griffiths and Joe Mitchell.

There was cup disappoint for the Under 18 Blues, however, as they were beaten 2-0 by Fairford and Lechlade.

In league action, the Under 13 Blues made it eight wins from eight in Division Two with a 6-1 victory against Ashton Keynes Youth, who began the day in second.

Jacob Rendell-Haines was again among the goals, netting four, while Michael Clifton and Oliver Dyer were also on target.

Bassett are now a staggering fourteen points clear at the top of the table.

Winning by the same score were the Under 15 Blues against Cirencester Town Gladiators thanks to braces from Landon Golding and Daniel Warre. Nathaniel Bell and Jed Phillips completed the scoring.

Meanwhile, a 4-0 triumph for the Under 15 Yellow side against Swindon Supermarine J saw them pull six points clear of their opponents at the summit of Division Three. Scoring for Bassett, who have won all six of their league games so far this season, were Jack Timbrell (2), Callum Flay and Kieren Kirby.

Elsewhere, there were a number of narrow defeats for Bassett sides.

The Under 16 Blues were unable to build on last week's win, falling by a solitary goal against FC Calne.

Both Under 14 teams were defeated 3-1. Despite Jack Osbaldeston's goal, the Blues succumbed to Highworth Town Juniors, meaning there are now four teams tied on twelve points at the top of Division One.

Samuel Case was on target for the Yellows, who were defeated by Wroughton Youth Lightning.

On Saturday, the Under 12 Girls battled Wiltshire County Girls League leaders Melksham Town all the way, but came up just short, losing 5-3. Poppy Wannell netted a brace, with Darcy Cox also scoring.

The Under 12 Blues defeated AFC Newbury Red in the cup last weekend, but the Berkshire side gained revenge for that defeat, prevailing 4-2 in their first league meeting of the campaign. Naman Gurung got both of Bassett's goals.

There was a first league loss of the season for the Under 12 Yellows, who fell 5-1 against new Division Four leaders Ramsbury Youth.

Leonard Masters and Thomas Triggs found the net for the Under 12 Whites in an 8-2 defeat against Division Five pacesetters Fairford and Lechlade Saxons.
