Perfect starts continue

On another positive weekend, big wins for Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Under 13 Blue and Under 12 Yellow sides made it three teams who have recorded four wins from their opening four North Wilts League games.

They join the Under 15 Yellows in having an unblemished record so far this campaign after Callum Flay struck two and Tom Warren was also on target.

Alongside them, the Under 18 Blues remain undefeated – the only blot on their copybook being a draw – and a number of Bassett's teams currently find themselves sitting on or very near to the summit.

It is still very early in the season, but the signs of a highly successful year are there for the club's youth section teams.

In Division Two, the Under 13 Blues racked up a perfect ten, as they thrashed Marlborough Youth Mavericks 10-3. Jacob Rendell-Haines fired four of them, while both Michael Clifton and Joey Warren bagged braces. Edward Aitken and Joshua Griffin rounded off the scoring.

The Under 12 Yellows also won big to keep their 100% record in Division Four going, defeating Lydiard Youth Spartans 5-3. Scoring for Bassett were Patrick Otoo-Mensah (2), Seiji Pearson and Samuel Watson.

A tight battle ended in victory for the Under 18 Blues, as they edged out Fairford and Lechlade by the odd goal in three thanks to goals from Bailey Gallagher and Harrison Gough. Despite having only dropped two points, they sit second in Division One.

After suffering a first loss last week, goals from Otis Lewis and Rory Ryan delivered victory for the Under 14 Blues against Highworth Town Juniors H by the same score.

Making it three teams triumphing 2-1, Alec Gawthropp's brace lifted the Under 12 Blues past Bishops Cannings Corinthians and means they have a three point advantage at the top of Division One.

Meanwhile, the Under 12 Whites opened their account for the campaign with a fine 4-0 triumph against Fairford and Lechlade Saxons.

On Saturday, the Under 12 Girls made it three wins from their opening five games as four goals from Poppy Wannell, an Edie Harris brace and strike from Hollie O'Driscoll helped them to a 7-2 win at Westbury Youth Allstars.

The Under 15 Blues were winners by default in the Wiltshire County Cup first round as they were awarded their win against Highworth Town Juniors J.

There was a narrow 2-1 loss for the Under 13 Yellows, who came up just short away against the undefeated North Swindon Lions. Ibrahim Ghaffar was Bassett's scorer.
