Hat trick hero Flay slays Stratton

Sunday 01 October 2017 - by Stuart Smedley (Updated on 01 October 2017 at 21:15)

A hat-trick from Callum Flay helped Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 15 Yellows to their third successive league victory in North Wilts League Division Three as they defeated Stratton Youth 4-2.

It was Flay's second three-timer of the season and took him to seven goals overall. Rounding off the scoring for Bassett was Tom Warren.

The Under 14 Blues also have three wins from their opening three league encounters as they saw off FC Calne Black 3-0 in Division One. Otis Lewis, Matthew Purcell and Rory Ryan were on target.

The Under 12 Blues were victorious against FC Calne Black too. Trailing by a goal at the break, they recovered to win by the odd goal in five.

Joining them in the winners' circle were the Under 12 Yellows, who recorded a fantastic 7-0 triumph away at Croft Junior Red, while the Under 13 Blues kept up their 100% league record with a wild 6-4 victory against Highworth Town Juniors T.

The Under 18 Blues were involved in a high scoring encounter as well as they shared six goals with Swindon Rangers, picking up a valuable point away from home.

There was disappointment for the Under 15 Blues, who lost for the first time this season, falling to a narrow 3-2 defeat against Highworth Town Juniors T.

Also coming up just short were the Under 12 Girls. Despite four goals from Poppy Wannell, they were beaten 7-4 at Trowbridge Wanderers Youth.

The Under 14 Yellows lost 3-0 against Lydiard Youth Blue, while the Under 12 Whites lost 4-1 against Marlborough Youth Tigers.
