Senior Section Pre-season Plans

Monday 29 May 2017 - by Stuart Smedley (Updated on 14 June 2017 at 21:27)

Royal Wootton Bassett Town's preparations for their 2017-18 Hellenic League Premier Division campaign are set to begin on Monday 19th June with the start of senior section pre-season training.

The First and Development teams will then train together every Monday and Thursday at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground up until the start of the season in August.

All players, returning and new, are welcome to attend training and are asked to arrive for a prompt 7.30pm start, with sessions finishing at 9pm.

Parts of training sessions will take place on the AGP pitch, so players are instructed to bring appropriate footwear in addition to their running shoes. Running shoes are not permitted for activities on the AGP.

Six friendly fixtures have also been arranged for the First team as Rich Hunter's side seek to improve on an eleventh place finish in 2016-17.

The series of friendlies begins with a trip to Western League Premier Division Chipping Sodbury Town, before an away game at Western League Division One Corsham Town.

Bassett then host Southern League Swindon Supermarine before two more contests against step six Western League sides.

They make the short journey to Malmesbury Victoria before welcoming Devizes Town to the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.

In their final tune-up, Bassett will face more Southern League opposition in the form of Shortwood United.

The full series of friendly games is as follows:

Tuesday 11th July – Chipping Sodbury Town (Away) – 7.30pm k.o.
Thursday 13th July - REME MOD Lyneham (Home - AGP)
Saturday 15th July – Corsham Town (Away) – 3pm k.o.
Saturday 22nd July – Swindon Supermarine (Home) – 3pm k.o.
