Huckin to the four in final thriller

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Ladies capped off their most successful season yet in style, as they defeated Almondsbury UWE 4-3 after extra time to lift the Gordon Perrett Memorial Cup.

Hayley Huckin was Bassett's hero as she struck all four of her side's goals to deliver the silverware.

The game was a thriller from start to finish as the two evenly matched teams fought tooth and nail for the cup.

Setting the tone for an attack filled showpiece, Huckin put Bassett ahead after only four minutes.

However, against the run of play, Almondsbury got back on level terms midway through the first half with a well taken headed goal.

Huckin then struck again on the stroke of half time to put Bassett in front again.

Her hat-trick goal shortly after the restart made Bassett's position appear commanding.

But Almondsbury refused to go down without a fight.

They halved the deficit from the penalty spot after a handball in the box before finding a dramatic late equaliser to force extra time.

Huckin was on hand to restore Bassett's advantage in the opening period though, and sound defensive work meant that their third lead of the match was one they were not going to relinquish.
