Sunday a huge success for Vets

Monday 1st May 2017

While the results of their two games may not have gone their way, Sunday was a huge success for Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Veterans team.

26 players featured across two games, including a fixture against the RAF FA Representative side, which it is hoped will become a permanent feature of the club's calendar.

In the early kick off against RAF FA, the visitors triumphed 3-0.

A minute's silence was held before kick off to remember those soldiers who had been repatriated at RAF Lyneham and through the town of Royal Wootton Bassett.

The game was also attended by Mayor Mary Champion and Deputy Mayor Steve Bucknell, who presented a plaque to the RAF FA side in the clubhouse after the game.

In the afternoon Bassett took on Bays Veterans and were defeated 3-1, with Dean Ramshaw grabbing the home side's goal.

It's great to see the Veterans team thriving, which demonstrates we are truly a club for all ages!

If you're age 35 and over and are interested in continuing to play the beautiful game with Bassett, please get in touch with Nick Warren.
