Civic Award for Paul Harrison

Thursday 16th March 2017

Many congratulations to Paul Harrison who received a Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council Civic Award in recognition of his outstanding service to sport in the community on Wednesday.

Paul, who was appointed a Life Member of the football club in 2012 having served Royal Wootton Bassett Town as a player, Secretary and, across two spells, Chairman, managed the relocation of the Royal Wootton Bassett Sports Association, delivering the fantastic facility that its constituent clubs now proudly call home.

The certificate that he was presented with by Mayor Councillor Mary Chapman and Town Clerk Johnathan Bourne sums up perfectly the indelible contribution he has made to sport in the town, enhancing significantly the legacy of Major Gerard Buxton, who bequeathed the land at Rylands Way to the Sports Association in 1930.

It states: "Paul is an exceptional leader, who worked tirelessly over many years with patience, dedication and skill, to lead the Association in realising its dream of providing high quality sporting facilities fit for purpose for today's Town."
