Swindon Town set to visit for historic friendly

Friday 26th August 2016

Monday 5th September is set to be a historic evening for Royal Wootton Bassett Town as they host Swindon Town in a friendly (7.30pm kick off).

Arranged as part of the Sports Association's series of events celebrating the one-year anniversary of the opening of the New Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, the League One Robins will be bringing a strong first team squad to face off against Bassett.

Luke Williams' side are no strangers to the facility, having used it as their training base throughout last season and during preparations for the 2016-17 campaign. Swindon also staged a number of Academy games at the ground last year.

Admission on the night will cost £6 for adults and £3 for concessions. The club's youth section members will receive free entry on the evening, provided that they are wearing official club merchandise, such as a tracksuit, shower jacket or kit.

Those planning to attend are advised to arrive early as a large crowd is expected.

To that end, the club is seeking volunteers to serve as stewards within the ground and car park and also to assist on the gate.

Those interested in helping out are invited to contact Pete Yeardley by email or on mobile (07778 936868).
