Under 12 Blues sign off with stunning draw

Sunday 15th May 2016

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 12 Blues guaranteed a share of sixth place in Division One with an excitement filled 4-4 draw against Chippenham Town.

Despite an impressive 6-0 victory in midweek against Highworth Town Juniors 'T', Bassett still needed to avoid defeat against Chippenham in order to avoid dropping into eighth place. And they did just, sharing eight goals in an absolute thriller.

Their win in the week came courtesy of goals from Matthew Purcell (2), Armarni Curtis, Howard Evans, Jack Osbaldeston and Joseph Sherlock.

One win is now all that is required for the Under 13 Blues to secure the Division One title. They overpowered Wanborough Juniors in the week, triumphing 8-2 thanks to a Nat Bell hat-trick, Daniel Warre brace and further strikes from Michael Gilder, Frederick Merrett and Billy Saunders.

Since then, they have been awarded victories against Wroughton Youth and Wickham Wanderers. Should they avoid defeat in their final two games, Bassett will wrap up an undefeated league season - an outstanding achievement.

The Under 13 Yellows missed out on a chance to jump into seventh place in Division Two as they lost 6-3 to Malmesbury Youth Eagles. A win against Malmesbury Tornadoes in their final game next weekend will see them climb a place though.

Meanwhile, a Luke Godwin goal helped the Under 14 Blues end their Division Two title winning campaign with victory against Croft.

A busy week for the Under 15 Blues saw them record one victory and suffer one defeat. They were dominant against Brinkworth Cats, romping to an 8-1 win thanks to goals from Thomas Chandler (3), Thomas Austin (2), Elhadj Seck (2) and Nathan Rivers. Against Broad Town Colts, who themselves are fighting for runners-up spot in Division One, Bassett slipped to a 4-0 loss.
