Bassett to host Swindon-Spurs FA Women's Cup clash

Thursday 21st January 2016

Swindon Town Ladies' SSE FA Women's Cup second round tie against Tottenham Hotspur Ladies will take place at the New Gerard Buxton Sports Ground on Sunday (2pm kick off).

The contest, originally scheduled to take place at Shrivenham, has twice been postponed, and both teams are itching to get it played and determine who will visit Gillingham in third round.

Swindon, managed by Royal Wootton Bassett Town forward Steve Robertson, enter the game as underdogs against a Tottenham side who ply their trade in the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division, the third tier of women's football.

The Robins, however, are still unbeaten in the league after seven FA Women's Premier League South West Division One (step four) games and will be quietly confident of pulling off an upset.

It should be a cracking cup tie, and it is certainly one which Royal Wootton Bassett Town and the Royal Wootton Bassett Sports Association are proud to host.
