'Keeper Curtis Meare and lively forward Kalum Youngsam are Royal Wootton Bassett Town manager Paul Braithwaite's latest summer signings as he continues to strengthen his squad ahead of the forthcoming Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division campaign.

Both players are familiar to the club, having featured for Bassett sparingly during the 2013/14 season.

However, the young pair, who were most recently with Forest Green Rovers' Academy side, will be expecting to feature on a more regular basis now that they have fully graduated to senior football.

Meare, a quality shotstopper who also possesses a strong kicking game, has been one of the most sought after young glovemen in the local area. He appeared four times for Bassett two years ago, producing a man of the match display in a losing effort at Reading Town.

Youngsam, meanwhile, will add pace and unpredictability to Bassett's forward line. He appeared 14 times in 2013/14, with eight of those coming as a substitute, and scored once in a 5-0 thrashing of Abingdon Town.

Commenting on the two signings, Bassett's boss said: "I'm very happy to get both players on board."

"Curtis had a solid first game against Purton and has had a good pre-season overall. He's a 'keeper that is ready to work hard and play Hellenic Premier football for a few seasons as he looks to improve and progress."

"Kalum is different to the other strikers we have. He's raw and unpredictable at times, can run in behind and is a good finisher too. He's one I'm really excited about. If he gets his head down, he's going to really grow and be a very good player in this division."

Meare and Youngsam are joined by defender George Drewitt and forward Nathan Gambling, who both committed for another year.

Drewitt was a revelation at centre half last season, earning both Manager's and Players' Player of the Year awards in his first full season as a member of Bassett's first team after a number of years in the reserves.

Gambling played a crucial part in Bassett's successful 2014/15 campaign too, racking up 16 goals, with a hat-trick against local rivals Highworth Town among that tally.
